Slots and Flow Management

Slot

A slot is a narrow depression, or perforation, in a structure that receives and slides a piece of movable matter. The term was coined in the late 14c. and comes from the Old French esclot, of uncertain origin. The word has several other meanings, including the English sleuth. A bloodhound, for example, may follow a slot that has been injured by a deer.

Pay tables are displayed on slot machines and tell you what you will win when certain symbols line up. Some symbols can represent many others, including fruit and lucky sevens. The pay table is usually located on the machine’s face, or in older machines, above and below the wheels. The pay tables are available in the help menu of most video slot machines. Some games also have bonus rounds or other features aligned with the theme. To learn more about the pay tables on the machine, check out Wiktionary.

Flow management and slots are expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. Countless countries, including the U.S., are experiencing high levels of traffic congestion. In many places, central flow management has been implemented for 20 years and has led to huge delays and fuel burn reductions. By eliminating multiple flights that overlap each other, congestion is reduced, and everyone is more likely to be on time. In the near future, the use of slot technologies is likely to increase as a result of these benefits.
